Dr. Gohar is an urban, landscape, and tourism planner, as well as a sustainable development specialist, with nearly two decades of professional experience working with municipal governments, research institutions, international development agencies, private-sector organisations, and community-based groups. He worked extensively on settlements located adjacent to national parks and coastal environments, as well as dense urban areas and historic city centres across the Africa, West Asia, and South America.
His research focuses the challenge of balancing rapid urbanisation with the preservation of ecological integrity, examining both highly urbanised metropolitan areas and remote nomadic settlements. Through an interdisciplinary approach, I address the complex relationships between urban development, environmental conservation, tourism, and community resilience.
Gohar holds a Doctorate in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, and currently serves as a Programme Leader in UWE Bristol, combining academic scholarship with extensive professional practice in planning, design, and sustainable development.
