Tales of Ibn Jawhar, The Landscapist

After long journeys of travel and wandering, Ibn Gohar found that he had crossed vast distances and witnessed many experiences and events. Some were driven by adventure and exploration, while others were undertaken for study, research, and public service. Ibn Gohar shared many of these stories with his daughters during their childhood, and they benefited greatly from them, learning many values and forms of knowledge.

The purpose of writing Ibn Gohar’s stories and adventures is to convey the realities of distant parts of the world to a new generation of Egyptian readers. His travels were not centered in famous capital cities, but rather in remote regions where human heritage and the distinctive customs of each society could be found, places shaped by traditions and ways of life that remained rich, fertile, and largely untouched by urban modernity.

Ibn Gohar hopes that these stories will help his daughters and their generation become more open to the world, learn about the diverse cultures of different peoples, and develop a deeper appreciation for human diversity.
