Planning for the Convention Centre of the Mecca Gate Project – Saudi Arabia

The proposed convention centre within the Mecca Gate development is envisioned as a key anchor that shapes the spatial and functional identity of the wider scheme. The project is grounded in a comprehensive process of site analysis and land suitability assessment, examining environmental conditions, topography, access and circulation networks, and existing infrastructure to inform strategic planning decisions. These analyses guided the development of land use distributions and zoning frameworks that accommodate the operational complexity of a large-scale convention facility while ensuring seamless integration with the broader masterplan. Emphasis was placed on managing capacity, accessibility, and visitor flows, positioning the convention centre as both a destination and a transitional gateway that connects regional movement corridors with the evolving urban fabric of Mecca.
